Top Anticipated Winter Animes of 2015

A change of season in Japan also marks the change of animes on tv. Every end of the season, the Japanese site for character database and manga/anime stuff, Charapedia, asks 10,000 fans all over Japan on what titles they are looking forward to for the next season. Winter’s coming and the results for this season’s poll are the following:

1. Kuroko’s Basketball Season 3 – 2,508 votes

Genre: sports

Plot Summary: Taiga Kagami enrolled into Seirin High School where he meets Tetsuya Kuroko of the school’s basketball team. Kuroko happens to be the shadowy sixth member of the legendary “Generation of Miracles” basketball team. Now, Kagami, Kuroko, and the rest of the team aim to beat Kuroko’s former teammates and take the inter-high school championship. In this season, they will face the captain of the Miracles Seijūrō Akashi.

2. Durarara!!×2 – 2,427 votes

Genre: action, mystery, psychological

Plot Summary: Ryūgamine Mikado is a boy who longs for the exciting life of the big city. At the invitation of his childhood friend he transfers to a school in Ikebukuro. From then on, the existence of supernatural cases and unusual people make Ikebukuro “lively” and mysterious.

3. Assassination Classroom – 2,034 votes

Genre: action, supernatural, comedy

Plot Summary: An alien octopus with bizarre powers and super strength disguised as a school teacher has just destroyed the moon and threatens to destroy the Earth – unless his students can destroy him first.

4. Tokyo Ghoul √A (Root A) – 2,010 votes

Genre: action, horror, supernatural

Plot Summary: Ghoul – kind of monsters that live by hunting and devouring human flesh are at large. Kaneki Ken, a normal person was transplanted with ghoul organs after he met an accident. This new season has an original story and introduces new characters.

5. Aldnoah.Zero Season 2 – 1,769 votes

Genre: mecha, science fiction

Plot Summary: In 1972, the Apollo 17 mission discovered a hypergate to Mars on the surface of the moon. Soon a war breaks out between Earth and Mars, and Martian soldiers begin to descend from the sky, riding steel giants, intent on exterminating humanity.

6. JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders Egypt Arc – 1,733 votes

Genre: action, adventure, supernatural

Plot Summary: Jotaro and the gang are back to finish their mission to find and eliminate DIO and save his mother. In this season, new characters, allies and enemies, appear including the talking dog Iggy and his stand, The Fool.

7. Kantai Collection (Kan Colle) – 1658 votes

Genre: action, science fiction

Plot Summary: Kan Colle, originally, is a free-to-play browser game with the service provider DMM.com in April 2013. In the game, players compete with cards featuring female moe characters inspired by Japanese World War II warships such as aircraft carriers, battleships, and cruisers.

8. The IDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls – 1,578 votes

Genre: pop idol, drama

Plot Summary: The arduous struggle of the 13 girls from Talent Production 765 who dream of one day becoming idols in the competitive Japanese entertainment industry.

9. Saenai Heroine no Sodate-kata – 808 votes

Genre: comedy, romance

Plot Summary: The life of Tomoyo Aki, a highschool otaku working part time to support his BD hoarding. With remarkable luck, he bumps head-first into, Megumi Kato, the most beautiful girl he has ever seen. Naturally, the meeting twists his life into a complicated torrent of relationships.

10. Kamisama Kiss (Kamisama Hajimemashita) Season 2 – 690 votes

Genre: comedy, romance, supernatural

Plot Summary: Nanami Momozono is alone and homeless after her dad skips town to evade his gambling debts and the debt collectors kick her out of her apartment. So when a man she’s just saved from a dog offers her his home, she jumps at the opportunity. But it turns out that his place is a shrine, and Nanami has unwittingly taken over his job as a local deity.

You got to wait until January 2015 though to watch this winter animes but be sure to brace yourselves before then.
